    NOTES:
This is the Hayward Selecta Flow Multiport Valve. It tends to fail over time. You will notice water leaking from the top or the valve will be impossible to turn.

This is due to the O-ring in the handle getting pinched or damaged by the spring that sits below it. The O-ring in the handle is pretty much impossible to change due to the nature of the design of the valve. The best and only thing to do is replace the valve.

Remember to order the exact model number of the valve you are replacing. It is a simple repair. Pop one out and insert the other (just remember how the old one was sitting so you can re-insert the new one correctly).

The best way to make these valve last a long time is to use them sparingly. That means limit the backwashing between filter cleanings (basically don’t use the valve). I only use them twice a year when I do the filters. That seems to give them the longest lifespan. Of course if you need to backwash your filter go ahead and do it.
