  • In 1919, the Electro Refractories and Alloys Corporation was established in Blasdell, New York. The plant in Blasdell was comprised of six buildings, and in 1949, an abrasives division was added. Inhaling dust and particles from the application and removal of asbestos-containing materials placed workers at risk for developing mesothelioma or lung cancer.
