Common leaks of sealing rings are divided into four types: interface leakage, penetration leakage, diffusion leakage, and damage leakage.

Interface leak

Due to insufficient compression of the gasket, improper smoothness or deformation of the interface contact surface will cause a certain amount of leakage on the sealing interface.

Penetration leak

Because soft materials are usually fibers, they are easily infiltrated by the medium, especially under the action of pressure. Due to the capillary phenomenon, the medium will penetrate to the 

low pressure side, so penetration leakage will occur.

Diffusion leak

Diffusion leakage refers to the leakage caused by the material transfer of the medium through the sealing gap or the capillary tube of the sealing material under the impetus of the concentration

difference. Diffusion is actually the result of molecular motion and is usually not one-way. In a state where the sealing pressure difference is extremely small or in a vacuum, it is necessary to pay 

special attention to the occurrence of two types of leakage, such as penetration and diffusion, for easily permeable substances such as nitrogen and hydrogen, and highly toxic and radioactive substances.

Damage leak

The working environment of the sealing part is relatively harsh, thermal deformation is relatively large, and it is often subject to vibration, impact, improper installation, excessive tightening force, repeated

use, compression deformation, internal stress concentration, damage beyond fatigue strength, and material aging Circumstances such as, deterioration, etc. will cause destructive leaks. Such leaks are usually

more serious, and the impact will be more serious. It is necessary to strengthen prevention.
